My letter

Activity 2: Setting Sail

Dear friends
I have been on this waka for such a long time. We are using the stars to guide our way. We are heading south. We have not passed any land yet but we have passed dolphins, sharks, whales and many kinds of fish. The weather has been terrible with thunder, hail and stormy winds. This has made our journey dangerous. The sea's have been ruff and many people have been sick. I feel a mixture of excitement, fear and nervousness as I start a new life. I miss you all and I hope to right to you soon.
With lots of love.
Charlee XOXO.

  1. Hi Charlee,

My name's Ruby and I'm one of the people who will be blogging with you this summer for the Summer Learning Journey.

This is an awesome letter. I really like how you have talked about the way they used stars as their guide. That's a great detail! Your letter tells us about the journey really well. Next time try and think about using different sentence starter words :)
What do you think the settlers were looking forward to most about landing in New Zealand? I would have been looking forward to having my feet on solid ground again!

Whenever I am on a boat, I get very sea sick! Have you been on a boat before?

I look forward to reading more of your blog soon.
    Cheers,
    Ruby.
