Weaving a Tall Tale
I will like to be a flax weaver because it keep you busy. You can sell them or you can even give them as gifts.

  1. Hi Charlee,

Leslie here, writing to you from Canada where we also grow flax for food and for the making of fabric. I'm a member of the Summer Learning Journey team and it's very fun to be reading your blog, filled with all of the activities you're completing.

I'm glad that you'd be interested in trying your hand at weaving flax. It must require a lot of skill and knowledge because flax leaves are rather stiff. The leaves have to be cut, then softened and then, for some projects, the fibres have to be freed up for weaving. It's a lot of work!

Perhaps someone will come to your class one day and show you how to do this. As a traditional Maori material, it would be really fun to have someone teach students to weave!

What kinds of things are keeping you busy this summer, other than the Summer Learning Journey, of course? I hope you're having a happy time.

    I'll keep reading your blog!

    Cheers,

    Leslie
