Day 1 - Activity 2 - Week 4 - Summer Learning Journey

Guardians of the Sea
Do I believe in Taniwhas?
Yes I do and I alway have because I am Maori and I believe that Taniwhas are monsters in the rivers. My dad says to my siblings and I when ever we are in the river watch out for the Taniwhas. I am scared some time so I swim to the shelow side.

Comment down below if you believe in Taniwhas?

  1. Hi Charlee,

This is Leslie, a member of the Summer Learning Journey team, reading your blog from Canada where our rivers and lakes are mostly frozen right now. When the winter sets in the waters tend to freeze. So we're not swimming here at the moment!!

It's really interesting to me that your dad warns you about the Taniwhas. The story is such an old one that it's hard to imagine that there isn't some truth to it. I wonder if anyone in your family, long ago, actually saw a Taniwha. How amazing would that be?

I'm glad that you like to swim and that, even if you're a little scared sometimes, you still enjoy playing in the water. Hopefully you'll never find yourself face to face with one of these river monsters!!!

I hope you're having a really nice day today!!

    Cheers,

    Leslie
